Helians

Children of Helios
(Helians)

During the ancient conflict between Hikari and Okami, Helios, the God of Resilience and Knowledge and brother of Hikari, sought to repay a debt to Luna, who had once rescued him from darkness. To fulfill this debt, Helios created Helians in his image, molding them from clay and strands of his hair. He then sent them to help take care of the Children of the gods. Helians became advisors, assistants, and laborers, respected among the other races for their adaptability and resilience. Though they have their own societal classes, ranging from rich to poor, Helians play a crucial role in the harmony and function of the world.

Appearance

Helians, crafted in the image of Helios, exhibit a remarkable diversity in their appearances, mirroring the boundless creativity of their creator. They naturally possess a wide range of skin tones, hair colors, and eye colors. Their adaptability enables them to flourish in diverse environments, from the floating isles of Hikari to the lush forests of Okami. Helian lifespans can extend up to 100 years, with heights ranging from 4 to 6 feet.

Culture and Society:

Helian society is versatile and dynamic, often forming communities that range from small villages to large, bustling cities. They are governed by a combination of elected officials, monarchs, and councils, depending on the region. Festivals and rituals are common, celebrating everything from seasonal changes to historical events. Education and knowledge are highly valued, with many Helians dedicating their lives to the pursuit of learning and innovation. Their ability to adapt and learn quickly has made them indispensable to the other races, often serving as mediators and innovators.

History:

Helians were created by Helios to fulfill a debt to Luna, ensuring they have a significant role in the world's balance. Over time, they have become integral to the societies of the Hikari, Okami, and Umimizu, often bridging gaps and fostering cooperation. The history of Helians is filled with tales of great leaders, inventors, and heroes who have shaped the world through their resilience and ingenuity.

Stereotypes on Miscegenation
(mixed race pairings)

Helians are generally accepting of mixed-race pairings, viewing them as opportunities to strengthen alliances and deepen cultural understanding. Though children of mixed unions are always born as one of their parents’ races rather than a hybrid, they often inherit distinct features, coloration, or subtle traits from both lineages.

Pairings with the Hikari and Okami are relatively common, though the child’s race is determined by the time of birth—becoming Hikari if born during the day or Okami if born at night. These unions are seen as spiritually significant, often producing children with striking appearances and unique personal strengths.

Relationships with the Umimizu are less frequent but still respected. In these cases, the child’s race is determined randomly between the two, and they may carry a profound connection to both land and sea, regardless of their inherited lineage.
